Human children! The methodology addresses needs that are especially significant for neurodivergent children, but the approach works for everyone.
We’ve tried to make something that works for all ages. The child needs a phone or tablet, which sets a natural lower limit. It’s possible to enable text-to-speech for rewards and tasks for children who struggle with reading.
This one is important: The app should not feel like a control method, or an extension of daily nagging.
You could introduce it like this: “We’d like to try something new: You take responsibility for some routines yourself, and you earn rewards when you manage them. We’ll stop nagging you about the routines you take charge of. Would you like to try it?”
First of all, take a look at the rewards. There’s a lot to gain from choosing rewards that are personal and meaningful to your child.
We’ve included some ready-made suggestions, but you know your child best! It can be anything from a pack of stickers to a trip to an amusement park. It’s often smart to have a mix of both small (short-term) and big (long-term) rewards.
